During the late 90's, the sports card industry evolved into a competitive landscape that required innovation, quality, and creativity to stay ahead of the pack. Autographed and game-used cards were the rage at the time, and Fleer utilized both elements when releasing their 2000 Greats of the Game set. The end result was one of the most collectible autograph and game used sets of all time which initially carried a suggested retail price of only $4.99 per pack.
While today's card releases are saturated with sticker autographs, exclusive league contracts, redemptions, and $500 blister boxes, Fleer's Greats of the Game set continues to hold strong interest from collectors old and new. Card Manufacturers today cannot match the design, player checklist, affordability, collectability, and fun that Fleer brought to us over twenty years ago.
